TRIBUNNEWS.COM, TOKYO - Honda to try their luck in the motorcycle segment cheap. The world's largest motorcycle manufacturer, now dikabar is planning to make cheap motorcycles in the developing world.
According Tatsuhiro Oyama, senior managing director of operations-motorcycle-Honda Motor Co.., Honda will manufacture and sell motorcycles with U.S. $ 599 (Rp 5.3 million) in China starting next year. Motor will also be marketed in Nigeria and Latin America for low-income consumers.
This strategy is done in order to compete with manufacturers from China and India are very aggressively market their products now. "We want to drive sales in this segment. Honda should be there (cheap motorcycle segment) that can not be evaded, they (China and India)," said Oyama told Bloomberg.
The new product is expected to boost sales of Honda motorcycles which continues to weaken in Japan, Europe and the United States
